Letz Cafe is a popular central Paihia cafe with shark themed decor inside and a couple of street tables outside. Famous for their 32 flavours of gelato and sorbet, they also sell a range of delicious cakes, slices and fudge along with smoothies, juices, coffees, frappes and sandwiches.
Enthusiastic owner Jeremy Vaughan goes the extra mile to entertain tourists, formerly displaying a large fake shark outside which was sadly removed after complaints to the council. He has now hired 3 mermaids (local girls dressed in mermaid suits) to appear when cruise ships are docked in the bay.

I scream, you scream… Letz Cafe!! They have an incredible range of gourmet gelato flavours that aren’t to be missed on any top ice cream list. I suggest you grab your favourite flavour (or try a new one) and head down to the picturesque beach and lap it up while watching the glassy-ocean shimmer around the many islands.
This is the sweetest place to come for brunch - and I mean that literally. These guys have an incredible array of cabinet food, erring on the dessert side but also perfect when you have one of those I-want-cake-for-brunch days. They also have icecream, fudge and slices. Plus the owners a total eccentric, last year he had a model shark on the side-walk, this year he has mermaids!
