Friday night live music and selection of wellington craft beer

Along with the sticky buns, the date scones at Home Cafe are a thing of excellence, and ideal for breakfast (if you like cakey treats for breakfast). The perfect mix of sweet, bready and fruity.

Working in or near Parliament largely means surviving on bad coffee, and few and pricey food options. Discovering Home Cafe in the National Library (after three years working at Parliament) has completely shaken up my workday eating options. What a treat! Home uses Havana Coffee and has a massive selection of counter food for a meal on the run, or a menu to order from if you’ve got time to sit and perhaps explore the library. All of the options are well-priced - mostly cheaper than other nearby cafes. Must try: the sensational sticky buns (actually cinnamon pinwheels by a different name) are the ideal sugar hit for an office day’s breakfast.

What a find! Yummy food, great Havana coffee and situated in the lovely warm National Library building so there is heaps and heaps of cool spaces to go and have your coffee.
