Great India

I went here for the first time today. I had the $12 lunch special consisting of curry, rice and bread (I went with the Garlic Naan). Overall a really good experience. The staff were very polite and friendly, service was swift. There was a minor mixup with my order but staff addressed it very prompty, courteously and professionally. The Garlic Naan was good (not the best ive had in wellington but still very good). The curry was excellent. The rice was very interesting. In most places the curry is good whereas the rice is a bland chore that one must endure to offset the enjoyment of the curry. However, the spiced rice at Great India was a wonderful exception to this. The rice itself was delicious. Really impressed. Portions weren't as big as one normally gets with a curry meal, but for $12, really great value. I strongly recommend Great India.

The best thing about Great India is the super cheap lunch deal which gives you curry, rice and naan for $12. The paneer is my menu favourite, but I have sampled my dining companion’s meals on several occasions and can deem them all delicious.

Great India on Courtney Place, provides great Indian. The aromas that engulf your taste buds are delightful. Each mouthful of smooth spicy curry is welcomed. Perfect for large group dinners, dates or even those ‘curry in a hurry’ lunches courtesy of their cheap lunch menu. I recommend trying the onion bhaji, some of the best I have ever tried.

There are only a few Indian restaurants in the city, and I think Great India is the best. The food is priced very reasonably, and arrives promptly on the hands of attentive staff. It is also, of course, delicious. The chicken korma was creamy and fresh, the meat tender, served up with a generously sized garlic naan. A reliable and solid restaurant.

All your favourite curries and also a great variety of new and interesting ones. It is one of my favourite BYOs and you always get given a hot towel at the end of a night so come out feeling fresh, clean and classy! (often difficult at other BYOs!)
