Working in the same building, makes popping into DS easy, and I pop in for very basic advice, which is given. Tend to pop in for tech-basics such as cords and leads. Last time I was in looking for a cable, my lack of techno-pertise was helped out by the friendly staff, and I was not sold the most expensive item, but the one that fitted my needs. It's also handy for gifts for the blokes in the family (lots of things for girls too!). Not a massive range, but seems adequate for a downtown shop. Would recommend,
I am a saleperson's worst nightmare. I'm one of those people who commits to a financial decision before leaving the house, has done all their research and knows exactly what they want: selling to me is like selling a dog to a cat! So I'm always pleasantly surprised when a retail assistant can take up the challenge and doesn't try and BS me out of a good choice. Dick Smith Electronics Downtown are full of helpful people who will do just that, and not mess you around. I bought my Macbook Air from these guys and they were incredibly helpful, could see that no, I didn't want all the trimmings - just something that would do the job. Sure enough I left about ten minutes later with exactly that. Fun fact: You can print your photos here for 5c each! What!? Reasonable quality prints from their Fujifilm self-service booths, in just over an hour. This is great for making those digital memories real-life mementos to share with anybody. Photo albums/scrapbooks (you know, the ones you can hold in your hands) are a lost art but one I'll definitely be revisiting after printing off 72 photos for my staff pinboard for just $3.60. Excellent!
