Crate Cafe is a rustic little eatery in Mt Albert. The staff were friendly and helpful and the portions generous. Pictured is the eggs Benedict with mushrooms. The eggs were just right with oozing yellow centres and the hollandaise was rich and tangy. The creamy mushrooms were fine (but no Dizengoff) as was the coffee. Apparently they do great burgers in the evening but I’m yet to try these.

I popped in here on a Easter Monday for the first time the staff were friendly an attentive. We ordered our food at the counter and took a seat outside. This cafe is perfectly placed just round the corner from St Lukes so if you want a bite to eat and can't stand the food court this would be ideal. There is plenty of indoor and out door seating and a huge piece of grass for the kids to play around on. The food and coffee were relatively cheap, but not as good as i'd hoped. My cake was dry, my daughters chocolate pancake was fatty and my Mocha, was lacking both coffee and chocolate flavour. My brother says the burgers are good, so maybe i'll give them a try.

My husband and I both ordered the mushroom eggs benedict, which came with a huge pile of mushrooms, and nice hollandaise. Sides were only $1 each to add! So we loaded up with hashbrowns and avocado, which were also big servings, at such a great price. The staff were friendly and attentive. The coffee was good.

Been to a 21st here, and now an amazing brunch last Sunday. Love the style, great coffee and food. Recommend!!!

Crate do one of the best big breakfasts around.  The big breakfast is a little on the pricy side but the serving size is decent and the everything tasted fantastic.  (For those on a budget there are plenty of other options too).  I'm always pleased when the breakfast sausages are Kransky rather than some nameless blob and their bacon was delicious too.  Instead of hash browns the big breakfast came with bubble and squeak (which was very nice) and it is the first cafe I've been to that has served fried green tomatoes, rather than the usual red ones. This would be a good place to bring the kids to, they have picnic blankets out on the grassy area in front of the cafe, along with some toys to entertain the little ones.  You can sit back with a coffee and relax.

Located next to a big grassy space, Crate Cafe is a funky new cafe with great atmosphere.  You can sit inside or outside next to the reserve.  There are various items of sports equipment to keep the kids entertained and you can watch them while you enjoy your food at your outside table.  We went here today and both had the big breakfast which was huge and really delicious.  I definitely couldn't finish mine!  Our two children chose the berry waffles which were also really large for a kids' meal and a great bargain at $5.50.  Their hot beverages were good too and their larges a good size.  They have an ice cream bar where you can add all sorts of goodies to your ice cream - fruit/sprinkles etc.  Couldn't fit one in, but we'll be back!
