check out the museum and finish with a coffee at this great spot

It's great to have a little cafe located in the museum, so it's worth grabbing a bite to eat once you have wandered around a little, but the last time we came here my coffee was undrinkable, I couldn't finish more than 2 mouthfuls. We took it back to the counter, and swapped it for a hot chocolate, which they made us pay the extra 40 cent price difference for! The hot chocolate was quite nice. Do keep in mind that their kitchen closes earlier than the museum, so if you want to order anything off the menu you can't leave it too late. They do have cabinet food, but I find it to be a bit overpriced - I guess they can get away with it because of their location.

To be honest, we find the Columbus a bit over-priced, but I guess you can get away with it when you're based inside a top tourist attraction.  Most of the food we've had here has been fine, nothing outstanding.  Would avoid the savoury muffins however as they are way too salty!

We popped in to Columbus Cafe to have a cup of coffee whilst waiting for an exhibition to open.  I have to say their coffee was rather good and I enjoyed a chocolate gingerbread kiwi biscuit with it which was also yum, for both me and my boy who had a fluffy.  The store was rather quiet being early in the morning so service was efficient and staff very friendly.

I tried the cafe's version of carrot cake, it was sweet and soft. A very nice thing to end the day at the museum.

Friendly Staff.Good coffee.Awesome raspberry and cream cheese muffin.
