Cock & Bull Botany

The traditional English pub, where after a long day, one drops by, gets a pint of good brew to unwind and relax, hopefully with good company. Cock & Bull Botany has been open for 17 years now since 1995, and has a range of own brews (6 of them) on tap. I thought it's about time to pay a visit to this pub/restaurant/bar and check out what's on offer. Very warm and cozy decour, wooden panels, floors, trimmings and various fireplaces spread around the dining area giving you that traditional English pub feel and experience. You place your order for any drinks and food at the bar counter, with seasonal specials written in chalk on the blackboard. I went for a "pint" of their Dark Star dark ale, while my friend got a "Berries on the Beach" cocktail, and also ordered a plate of beef nachos to share with our drinks. We found a table to call home base for the night, the cocktail arrived 10 minutes after we sat down and the food another 10 minutes later. The nachos was quite tasty, however we wished the portion size could be a bit more generous for the price that they were charging. Their beer is definately a step above your usual "me-too" DB/Lion branded offerings, and have won numerous awards over the years. Their cocktails are also done well, showing the competancy of their bar staff We followed with a bowl of potato wedges and another fruity cocktail "Freefall" to finish the night with. A very warm and friendly local pub with a great atmosphere and vibe, and most importantly have their own in-house brewed beer on tap to differentiate themselves from other pubs. Definately a place that you'd want to come back to again to relax and wind-down for the day.
