An award-winning country cafe, Black Cottage Cafe is a fantastic escape to the rolling green pastures of the idyllic village of Coatesville, located north west of Auckland on the Coatesville-Riverhead Highway. Run by a team of passionate locals, the cafe serves up fresh cabinet food, excellent sweet treats and changes its menu seasonally.

They are well-known for their homemade soups, using veges from their garden on-site, great pastries and jazz on a Sunday afternoon. It's the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city.

The perfect choice for getting out of the city, and having a 3 year old boy means the playground out the back - and in sight - is a blessing! I’ve always love the mushrooms on ciabatta and the Caesar salad and anyone I’ve taken along has loved it too. Always accommodating service.

    This place is to die for and blows the local competition out of the water... the decor is gorgeous, the coffee fantastic and the food is so good. I have tried almost everything on the menu and haven't been disappointed once. It's also fantastic for kids with a lovely big fenced playground and lawn for running around on. Definitely a favourite spot!
