Seriously good coffee that I go back to again and again! I like the fact that it is a little on the small side because it never gets overrun with people who would rather be at McCafe. Sometimes I would prefer it was a little larger so that I had a little more room between me and the next table. But...these are the things we sacrifice in the name of good design :) Tried the Ginger Loaf and Caramel Slice on my most recent visit. Was damn good. Damn good.
I met up with a friend from Sydney who has not lived in New Zealand for about 20 years. He was quite surprised to see how much Auckland has 'grown up' while he has been away. Newmarket has come a long way since our days at EGGS and AGS in the late 80s. Altezano has a great feel. It feels grown up and distinguished but not in a snooty way. The coffee is smooth and hot - not something to be sniffed at. He went back again this afternoon for more without me!
