Gotta love the $10 brunch special on the weekends! I had a "little big brekkie" with hasbrowns, tomato, sausage, bacon and a poached egg on toast and the bf had a BLT and chips. We were stoked to find something so close to home and so light on the pocket.

Altar will always be one of my old faithfuls! A gem of a place in busy mt Eden - you can always get a table here! As another bonus it’s open til late! And the coffee never disappoints

The cafe is very small! When we arrived for brunch, as there were no tables left, staff had to separate one of the larger tables to make room for us. Service was speedy and the coffee was hot and  strong. It is defiantly one of those places you have most likely driven past heaps of times before but had no idea was there! The bagel was pretty standard but had a good amount of cream cheese and jam.

Went here for brunch with my wife and another couple on a rainy Sunday (always good for indoor dining). Was quite surprised by the quality of experience we had today.Service - Very friendly and efficient. Always helpful and very keen to let us know that we can just ask for things, and they will get it for us.Food - The big breakfast was quite nice but a bit dry and the amount wasn't really enough for guys. The creamy garlic mushroom on pide was nice and wasn't too dry while the mince on 5 grain bread was a bit dry + bland. However, the coffee are great. Probably one of the best around town and would definitely return for the coffee and maybe something else on the food menu.Value - Reasonable price and thought they were slightly cheaper than expected.Atmosphere - Nice cafe in a villa with a 300 year old spanish altar. Quite nice for a rainy Sunday.Overall - Quite delighted with this place although the food can be slightly bigger and a bit more sauce :) Would return in future.

Went here this morning with a mate who lives in the area. Nice place and good service. My friend had the eggs, toast and coffee which was $7.50 I think. Really good value. He lives in the area and will go again. If I'm around I'll pop in as well. Worth it

Come here at 12-3 and you get the best out of this small boutique cafe. You get both breakfast and lunch menu and you’re totally spoiled for choice.

My husband and I took his parents here this weekend, and we really enjoyed ourselves. They had a good breakfast menu, and everybody really enjoyed their meals. The coffee was pretty good. They currently have an amazing special going from 7-11am, which is eggs on toast with coffee for $7 - we were too late to try this, but I will definately keep this in mind for a cheap breakfast out. We sat in the outside courtyard, which was really nice, but inside looking nice to sit in too. The staff were really friendly. Well worth a try.

We enjoyed a birthday dinner there last week - it was a Monday night and they were so accomodating - really great spot to have a great meal out!

Good coffee & I like the happy hour prices.

yup best ive ever tasted !
