Justin devised a workout which pushed me to the edge and made me feel like I did a good hour and a half gym session in just 30 minutes! And with no cardio! I was not only amazed but had heaps of fun and learned a lot about my strengths and weaknesses. Keeping a good eye on form and technique while pushing me to reach my limits, Justin was kind and encouraging while still keeping a professional attitude. "Wow this place has really improved, stays nice and cool inside and although it is a smaller gym its not as busy and it gives you more time with the staff for 1-on-1 sessions or help with unfamiliar machine. They say that this gym is for REAL people and it's true! no gym buffs here just everyone of all shapes and sizes doing their best to get in shape! I feel much more confident at this gym and am happy to try new things as I don't feel so embarassed by my looks :)"

There are plenty of rooms for functions from 1st to 21 st birthday parties. They also have an excellent holiday and after school program. Well worth checking out when you have the time"

" Tested this place out once with a friend If I lived in the area I would probably sign up. Everybody who works there is really friendly and help to maximise your workout. There's loads of equipment and you rarely struggle to get on a machine but after 6 can be quite busy with the after-work crowds. The gym is split over two floors and the changing rooms are amazing - really hot power showers and lockers with a lot of space. One of the better gyms I have been too. "
" This is one great gym, definitely the best i have joined by far. Huge place with a lot of equipment to use, you will never be short of something to work out on. Gym fees are low which is a bonus. Staff are fantastic including the lovely receptionist who greets you with a huge smile every day! Oh and there is plenty of parking too....Loving this place :0)"

" Great pools without the entrance fee! The quality, and hygiene of the pools are quite good, considering it's free, unlike some of the other pools I have visited. The changing rooms have plenty of seats and hooks available to hang up clothes, as well as toilets, warm showers, and power points to plug in hair dryers and stylers. There are three pools- 1 large Olympic pool, 1 normal large pool and small toddlers pool. There are lockers available for hire as well as cubicles to store your possessions in. The centre also has a spa and sauna, although these will need to be paid for. "

"CFEA is one of many crossfit 'boxes' that exist in Auckland. Crossfit is not a gym membership; it is literally a lifestyle. It helps improve motivation, determination, self-efficacy, healthier dieting, a stronger body (in all functional aspects!) and provides a great sense of community and friendship. I started Crossfit last year in November, and I came in with expectations of something way out of my league and very scary! " Super friendly, wickedly helpful and really knowledgeable staff with a true passion for what they do. The On Ramp course is well worth the money, and although tough is just the challenge you need to kick start your fitness. I've tried boot camps etc in the past but this is learning the techniques in a supportive and fun environment. Totally worth it! "
" Having had no knowledge of what crossfit was all about, I signed myself up to an On-Ramp beginners course for 4 weeks and have recently just finished and joined the big boys class. Aaron is a fantastic coach who steps you through all the simple techniques and exercises so no matter what fitness level you are in currently, you can definitely start somewhere and improve from there. I'd highly recommend to book in for a free trial class on Saturdays at 8:30am to find out what the craze is all about!"

"I’m sure most of you know how Jetts works (as a 24-hour gym) - I love how all of the weights equipment is colour-coded so it’s very easy to use! Fantastic gym layout with nice, brand-new machines there. It makes going to the gym a pleasure, and if you go at staffed times, you’ll see how helpful and friendly the staff are. Awesome gym"
" Jetts is a 24 hours gym with access by swipe card. They are all brand spanking new with the best equipment and TV on all the cardio machines (go when Biggest Loser is on - it's a great motivator). They are usually unstaffed or staffed by one person at any given time but the rules and induction process mean that members respect the gym and it is always spotless and clean. Not paying staff and not running classes means that you're not paying for all those things that most of us don't use anyways so you can get a membership for around $10 a week."

"Every so often Life puts you on the path to self-discovery and life-changing experience. In my case, Life marched me through the doors of The CrossFit Power Station on Moore Street in Howick, and into the disciplining yet caring hands of Cathy Halforty. I was at a very unhappy, unhealthy, and just plain sedentary point in my life five months ago (I am writing this in July 2013). At the time, I had gained almost 20 kilos prior to meeting Cathy and joining The Power Station. My wedding day was looming and I had exactly twelve weeks to fit into my wedding dress. I was in a desperate panic and willing to do anything and everything. From the start, Cathy was extremely honest with me and made it very clear that it was not going to be easy. I was immediately put on the 'Fat Blast Challenge' - a specially designed eating program; and was given a fitness plan that made me sweat just thinking about it. Two weeks into my weight loss journey - I shed almost 4 kilos! And I am proud to say that I did it the sensible, safe, and healthy way. Those twelve weeks were truly and utterly life changing. Looking back, not only did I manage to drop three dress sizes (I went from a size 16 back down to a size 10/12) and look better in my wedding dress than when I first bought it, I also managed to irrevocably changed my entire lifestyle and perspective on health and fitness, and become part of an amazing and dynamic community in the process. And I could not have done it without the constant support and encouragement of Cathy and my fellow Power Station CrossFitters. What makes The CrossFit Power Station so different from other traditional gyms is that it is not a 'gym'. There are no treadmills, no cross-trainers, no mirrors, or 'gym machines' of any kind (with the exception of rowing machines - that are used occasionally in certain work-outs). Our bodies are the machines. Cathy and Damian and their team are passionate about empowering each and every member - to utilize and develop their physical potential and capabilities; and push beyond their perceived limits. At the CrossFit Power Station, the main focus is improving and maintaining a good level of varied fitness, and strengthening and conditioning the body. As a young woman who had been on one crash diet after another since adolescence, I found it liberating and awe-inspiring to be surrounded by strong, fit, confident, and healthy women. Women who rejected the 'skinny ideal' in favor of a strong and empowered version of femininity. Since joining The CrossFit Power Station, I have gained immense respect for my body and become fitter, stronger (physically, mentally and emotionally), healthier and more social. I now have a regular, weekly training schedule that I actually look forward to, and participate in the various special events that are held for the CrossFit Power Station community. "Been a member here now since they opened. Definitely glad I made the move. Facilities are always well maintained and clean, staff are always friendly and happy to answer questions. This gym does get busy at peak times (just like all gyms), but being open 24/7 means theres plenty of time to come when its quiet."
