Quench your thirst around the city

Posted by <<Expired>>

More drinking fountains will be popping up around the city, as the humid weather holds in Auckland.

The Waitemata local board is increasing the number of drinking fountains in parks and busy thoroughfares.

Refill stations, which can be used to top up empty water bottles, can now be found at the West Lynn shops on the corner of Richmond Rd & Francis St and on the corner of Williamson Ave & Great North Rd in Grey Lynn.

The drinking stations are seen as modern day ‘village pumps’ providing free filtered water to help people minimise their plastic bottle waste.

More traditional drinking fountains have been installed at Judges Bay Reserve in Parnell, and two more are coming to Myers Park, as part of the playground upgrade, and at Basque Park in Newton.
