"Howick Midnight Madness is this week, and as I have a penchant for alliteration and shopping - this sounds like me. All shops will be open until midnight and there will be a riot of bands, face painting, stilt walkers, dancing and singing in the street."

"Manukau City's public art gallery, Te Tuhi Centre for the Arts, is a huge space that includes multiple shows and a great café. It plays host to changing exhibitions, classes, school holiday programmes and more."
"It is our local Public Art Gallery. A wee gem hidden away in Pakuranga. They have amazing international and national artists showing there, right at our doorstep. It’s a wonderful place to visit. It also has easy parking and great coffee."
"Te Tuhi is a space that has hosted an amazing array of contemporary exhibitions but still manages to distance itself from the swanky art vibe which can be off putting to the wider community. Not only is their main gallery space accessible to the general public but they pride themselves in creating a space which encourages community participation and engagement. This is a community space with heart and soul, this is what a centre for the arts is all about."

" Went to an art exhibition here this week for artworks that involve text. There was a huge range of styles of artwork. My two favourites are pictured. One is Eleanor Barker’s teen-witch-esque illustration with beautiful anatomical style drawings inspired by the words on the pages they are set around. The other was Katrina van Roon’s folded book art; several books pain-stakingly folded into these beautiful shapes. I would have loved to have either of these works in my home and there were plenty of other works I liked too. Aside from coasters available individually for $44 and a hand blown soda glass work with a light fitting inside it for $16,000, the prices for art ranged from about $200-$400, so very reasonable. Keep an eye out for other exhibits coming up here, you may be able to get yourself a beautiful piece of original artwork for a steal!"
" Uxbridge is run by a terrific bunch of friendly people. They are there to support local artists and community run programmes. They produce great shows, events and art exhibitions. And have a lovely wee cafe and shop. I hope you can get along to see them."
" I love attending events and classes here. There's lots to offer for everyone. Enjoyed the jewellery classes heaps. The gallery has excellent exhibitions, which change regularly. There's a great little art appreciation group, who visited the Pah Homestead last week. The classes all have skilled tutors and cater for all ages. There's always a buzz in the air visiting here and the cafe makes a good little meeting spot for coffee and a bite to eat."

"Great selection of books and some DVDs are free. Staff are friendly and knowledgable. It is a great place to get away and whittle away a few hours. The annual ANZAC display is well done every year."
" Can't believe they have free DVD's in the 'Documentary' section! Which you can rent for 28 days and there are a number of great titles. Obviously a great and constantly refreshed and changing range of titles in books and magazines, as well as great service (mum accidentally 'returned' one of her own magazines and they called her and put it aside for her to pick up). Amazing that this is free for us all!"

"The pre marriage course is awesome!! We both learned heaps from each other and feel our relationship will be so much stronger in the future. A "must do" for every couple planning to get married!"
" I got the book from No Myth Marriages a while ago. We are not newlyweds but needed to go over the basics :). I could not put the book down! The author combined business and leadership models and put it in context of the Marriage. I found it very inspiring, practical and helpful without being soppy. The workshops sound are appealing..."

"High Quality New Zealand art and objects by New Zealand Artists and Designers. Great place to visit when you need a gift for overseas. They also bring art to your house to make sure it is right for you. The owner Sandy Starr is a gem! Go visit today"
" I can't walk past this gallery, the colours and vibrant paintings and art works draw me in. Service is not pushy but very helpful. They've even offered me home decor advice for art installation. I have enjoyed a number of their openings and the chance to meet the artist. This is a local treasure trove, which I value. Art works are of a high standard and are sourced from around New Zealand. I know work brought from here will be of high quality and give much pleasure. Can't wait for my next visit!"

"Love coming to this library, as it's so spacious with a huge range of books and other resources and media to choose from. The front desk is helpful and always has plenty of staff members around to help. I love that they also have another area at the back for newspaper readers and the kids area is right at the front, so the studying folks won't be too disrupted by noise. "
" I value this library highly. Staff are happy to help. Book displays are regularly changed to tempt interest. The shelves are well stocked with an excellent variety of subjects. I have recently been researching and have been well supplied with excellent volumes off the shelf. When requesting books or DVD's service email information is kept up to date. Judging by the buzz in the air and the number of other book lovers in this library at any time of the day, I think others value this community gem as much as I do."
" The good thing about the libraries now that there's is one Council for Auckland is the flexibility to get the books that you want and pick them up from the library of you choice. Its very handy I can pic a book up from Botany and drop it back to Papakura if I wanted to. By using the Pakuranga library I avoid getting wet as they have underground parking"
