" Super convenient and a bit more premium than the 'chains', we really love going to the Monterey. It was actually a lot bigger than I expected, with a selection of theatres and a choice of all the mainstream, plus more eclectic and varied offerings that you don't get elsewhere. The quality of screening is really impressive we've started sitting closer to the screen as the image is so good! A real asset to living in Howick."

"Howick Midnight Madness is this week, and as I have a penchant for alliteration and shopping - this sounds like me. All shops will be open until midnight and there will be a riot of bands, face painting, stilt walkers, dancing and singing in the street."

"Rug up warm and head out East to Paradice Ice for some romantic skating action. OK so maybe not romantic but definitely fun and a little out of the ordinary here in snow-free Auckland. Always a good way to start a date and then head out for hot chocolates at your favourite cafe afterwards to warm up again. Smooth."
" My fiancé took me to botany ice rink 4 years ago on our first date, had sooo much fun that 4 years later we are getting married. Thanks paradice for a perfect first date to a life of happiness :) "

"Thanks guys for making all the accommodations to cater to my 20 odd Sunday church group. These guys had the go karts all ready to go so we spent little time waiting before jumping into the fun! The staff were great in encouraging my group and we all had fun."
" Loved this place! We did a team building day here from work and all had a great time. It would be a great thing to do with a small bunch of like-minded mates. Bit pricey though - check the website. You wouldn't want to just do half an hour, it's really addictive fun. The karts are fast 200cc jobs and it's real easy to spin the back end out. Loads of fun. Your face will ache from grinning when you leave. Top tip - if they offer you some big slabs of foam to put behind your back, take them. The skinny minnies among us who didn't all came out with bruises. Not meant to be a contact sport mind..."

" Went to an art exhibition here this week for artworks that involve text. There was a huge range of styles of artwork. My two favourites are pictured. One is Eleanor Barker’s teen-witch-esque illustration with beautiful anatomical style drawings inspired by the words on the pages they are set around. The other was Katrina van Roon’s folded book art; several books pain-stakingly folded into these beautiful shapes. I would have loved to have either of these works in my home and there were plenty of other works I liked too. Aside from coasters available individually for $44 and a hand blown soda glass work with a light fitting inside it for $16,000, the prices for art ranged from about $200-$400, so very reasonable. Keep an eye out for other exhibits coming up here, you may be able to get yourself a beautiful piece of original artwork for a steal!"
" Uxbridge is run by a terrific bunch of friendly people. They are there to support local artists and community run programmes. They produce great shows, events and art exhibitions. And have a lovely wee cafe and shop. I hope you can get along to see them."
" I love attending events and classes here. There's lots to offer for everyone. Enjoyed the jewellery classes heaps. The gallery has excellent exhibitions, which change regularly. There's a great little art appreciation group, who visited the Pah Homestead last week. The classes all have skilled tutors and cater for all ages. There's always a buzz in the air visiting here and the cafe makes a good little meeting spot for coffee and a bite to eat."

"I've had one child go through and another there at the moment and both my kids have loved it. It's very well managed and that sets the tone for the whole place with the whole vibe being friendly, relaxed but well run. The oldest started school this year and I felt she was ahead on day one, both both socially and academically and that was due to Rockabye. Can't recommend enough!"
" My son goes to rockabye and i am fully impressed with everything they do and provide there, they are very well looked after, always lots for the kids to do, the staff are amazing and they are always there to help. they have a wonderful system that involves families alot and they are all round an amazing place. I would reccomend them to anyone looking for high quality, fun, caring child care!"

"I have fished all over the world from Europe to the US for the last 30 years and can honestly say that Fishy Steve is one of the most competent and friendly Guides I have ever met. I have know fished the Taupo and surrounding region for the last four years and have used Steve's services on 7 occasions now. Steve always delivers, even in very tough conditions he manages to make a great day of it. I have tried Heli and Raft fishing with Steve and they were 2 of the most exciting and fulfilling days fishing I have ever had. Both my Brother and Father have now also used Fishy Steve's guiding services, with similar experiences. As well as finding fish Steves intimate and in-depth knowledge of fishing styles and techniques has improved my abilities considerably. I would have no attention of recommending Steve's Guiding services to anyone - Hi is my only choice in New Zealand ! Dave Allen, Melbourne, Australia P.S. His wife makes great lunches too ! "
" Had a great day out on the rivers around Taupo with Steve. Went to a couple of the smaller streams that I've always had trouble fishing in the past, and Steve was able to unlock their secrets for me. I caught good, hard fighting fish .... lost a few as well! Also learned how to "roll cast" which stood me in good stead later in the week on the Tongariro as I was able to fish some difficult to get to spots that others had walked past. Thoroughly recommend a day being guided by Steve, you'll learn lots of tricks even if you're already an experienced fly fisher. Chris."

"Great playland especially for under 5s. it is usually not very busy so that is an added bonus. Very clean and pretty big."
" Tin tin Playground and cafe makes an enjoyable trip out if you have a small child. Our playgroup went there for our end of term trip and all the children and adults had an enjoyable time. The entry fees are $5.50 for 1 year olds, $6:50 for 2-4 year olds and $9 for 5-12 year olds. (Adults and under 1s are free). It is very clean and tidy, with a bouncy castle, trampoline, ball pit and lots of great adventure playground equipment suitable for young children. The cafe is also reasonably priced. Tintin also do birthdays and have a variety of packages available."
