Let's face it, not everyone loves the thought of exercising. But when you find a type of exercise that's good for both your body and soul, then it no longer feels like exercise, but more therapeutic and in some ways - dare I say it, relaxing! Here is my pick of exercise for your soul which you can do throughout Auckland, indoors or out:
Pilates
This will strengthen your core, create long lean muscles and improve your posture, and with hundreds of pilates classes in Auckland you have no excuses for not trying pilates. You can either do a mat class, or use the reformer machines, pilates sticks and other equipment, or combine both for a full pilates experience.
Zumba
If you like the idea of combining dance moves with fun, latin vibes and a cardio workout, then this form of exercise might be for you. Not only will it get your adrenalin pumping at the end of a hard day at work, but Zumba will get you in tip top shape. There are hundreds of locations in Auckland where you can do Zumba, so check it out for yourself and shake that booty!
Tai Chi
Tai Chi is all about 'form' and movements connected in a series. Tai Chi focuses on breathing technique and you can enjoy gentle flowing, movements which are relaxing for your mind and body. Tai Chi improves body alignment, joints and muscle relaxation. Check out our Tai Chi listings here or contact your local gym or YMCA to find out about classes.
Yoga
Yoga is the perfect balance to practise in our busy modern lifestyles. Not only does it help with posture, release tension in bad backs, stiff necks and tight shoulders, but it also improves flexibility, muscularity and body shape. Regular practise of yoga will bring balance to all areas of your life and even help you sleep better. We have highlighted 11 types of yoga to enjoy at various locations around Auckland.

I see a lot of people with those resistance bands now, they're amazing! I'm going to get some. You could warm up with a walk to the park early in the morning and then use them to turn the playground equipment into a set of weights! Gym anywhere? Yes please.
