According to a search I just did on Localist, there are over 200 Indian restaurants in Auckland. That's heaps! But today we'll focus on three taking part in Auckland Restaurant Month.
First up is Calcutta Wala in Wyndham Street, which Localists have collectively rated 4 / 5. @Ailbhe went a few months ago and reckons their curries are really tasty: "I had heard good things about this place so decided to call in and try their curries, the waiter was attentive and friendly and the food was good. We shared the Butter Chicken and the Lamb Biryani, along with the cheese naan. All the food was tasty and there was plenty of it. I will go back again to try some of their other dishes. The prices were very reasonable too and they have some good deals on at lunchtime and on Monday and Tuesday nights."
Next up, let's head to Raviz Indian Cuisine, which has branches throughout Auckland - we're going focus on the one in the Big Little City. Localists reckons this one is a good 3.5 / 5. @KJW suggests trying the $10 lunch special: I'm surprised to see no one has raved about Raviz in Ponsonby in recent months as it is always so busy! We frequent it a lot for work lunches as it is just down the road. They have a current lunch special which is $10 for any curry, a plain naan, and rice. You can't go wrong with that! They're also happy to upgrade your naan bread. I'd recommend the dahl makhani if you're after a vegetarian dish.
Finally, we're off to Urban Turban (which Auckland reckons deserves 3.5 / 5), down at Wynyard Quarter - and apparently they do bottomless butter chicken! @sammy_87 explains, "Yum Yum, if you like Indian food, this place is for you. A great selection of food on the menu. The service was good, we were seated quickly and food came quickly. I had bottomless Butter Chicken, so as many servings as I liked - I could only manage 2! But I really liked this idea. If you have a hungry tummy then bottomless will ensure you leave full."
