Auckland Restaurant Week on a budget

Posted by 11 months ago

You’ve had a hard day at work, and can’t be bothered making dinner. You’d love to go out to a restaurant, but your wallet is a little on the light side...we’ve all been there! Fortunately, Auckland Restaurant Month is here to help. Throughout the month of August a number of great restaurants will be offering food deals for under $20 – welcome news for those on a budget.

Spanish inspired El Faro in Elliot Stables is a great place for a snack and a glass of sangria. Throughout August they will be offering two glasses of sangria, plus pintxos de jamon for just $19, which is pretty good value in my book. Also in Elliot Stables, Torchon French Creperie is offering two dishes (either a main and starter or main and dessert) for just $19.50.

Located in Freeman’s Bay, The Oakroom apparently do a pretty mean pizza. For $20 in August the will be offering one of these, plus a glass of beer or wine. Choices included two-minute Turkish (with hummous, roast eggplant and tomato) and margherita. A great option for a light meal with a skint mate!

If you’re craving a bit of Japanese food, NIWA on Lorne Street is offering a three multi-course menus for $16, $17 and $18 each. These include dishes such as Japanese curry, agedashi tofu and Japanese style omelette – sounds like great value.

Chinese fusion restaurant Fung Bar also has a set menu for under $20. Options include stir fries, hot and spicy noodles and coconut rice with mango for dessert.
