When most people think of Japanese cuisine, the first thing that pops into their head is sushi. But Japanese food is so much more than this - think yōshoku, donburi and yakitori. And you don't have to travel all the way to Japan to experience food like this. Auckland Restaurant Month showcases the very best Auckland has to offer and here's what's on offer from Japan:
Ichiban Japanese Restaurant is more than just a restaurant - it's also a karaoke bar! Diners (and singers) can enjoy traditional cuisine all night and revel in one of Japan's favourite entertainment options. During August, they're offering a special set menu for $20 which includes Ichiban Miso Ramen – Japanese traditional rich miso based noodle soup with teriyaki chicken and Gyoza – Home made Japanese pork fried dumpling (six pieces).
